No confirmed cases of the coronavirus reported are on the Ute Mountain Reservation or in Montezuma County, health officials report. The Ute Mountain Casino and Resort has a staff of 400, and is the second-largest employer in Montezuma County.
The closures of the casino, hotel, and RV park will last through April 8, or until further notice, health and tribal officials report. Hotel services will end as soon as reasonable accommodations can be made for its current patrons.
The Ute Mountain tribal council ordered all gaming operations be suspended “after determining the potential presence of the virus presents a serious threat to the health of all persons on or entering the Reservation,” according to a tribe press release. Kuchu’s Restaurant will continue to serve to-go orders, but there will be no inside dining service. The Ute Mountain Casino and Hotel in Towoac closed Wednesday to prevent the potential spread of the coronavirus.
